A native of Harrisburg, Pa., Michael Ross studied music at the University of South Florida and has studied privately with Cecil McBee, Dee Moses and Jim Miller. He has led two long-standing Tampa Bay–area groups, Liquid Bebop and the Michael Ross Quartet, which has three recordings of original compositions: “Doghouse” (2000), “Dog Eat Dog” (2002) and “Year of the Dog” (2004).

His latest album is “Ginger” (2014). Ross’s sideman credits include Nat Adderley, Jimmie Cobb, Herbie Mann, Nathen Page, and countless other musicians throughout Florida and the South.

The Tribute To Now Band features some of Ross’s new compositions combined with a few new arrangements of jazz standards by Wayne Shorter, McCoy Tyner and Dexter Gordon.

Modern jazz largely based in the blues, the musicians in this group are old friends and colleagues who have appeared with a variable who’s who of jazz greats, and played on “Ginger,” so this performance will be a happy reunion:

Michael Ross- Bass

Daniel Jordan – Saxophone and Flute

William Evans- Piano

Walt Hubbard – Drums
